Dear Friends,
Thanks again to all those who participated in the 2006 Cooper Open. Through your generosity over $26,000 was raised at last year’s event. We hope to see as many of you as possible on Saturday, October 6th at the Sixth Annual Cooper Open to be held at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH.
Since its inception, the Cooper Open has served a dual purpose, to show support for the Cooper family in their battle with Mitochondrial Disease and to raise money and more importantly awareness for an illness that receives little media attention.
As most of you know, all three Cooper girls are waging a battle with Mitochondrial Disease, a crippling foe characterized by a failure of a body’s cells to create the energy necessary to fuel the body and its respective organs. Notwithstanding the daily physical struggles these three girls face, the emotional and financial toll on the entire family as a result of the unpredictability of the disease is exhausting and draining. To have a day like this annually provides a huge boost to not only Ken, Deb and the girls, but also their extended family that works so hard to keep family life running smoothly.
The proceeds of the event benefit Marcel’s Way, a New Hampshire based non-profit group for those affected by Mitochondrial Disorders that offers support, information, and financial assistance to families like the Coopers that have been affected by this terrible disease (please see the attached letter for details).
For more information regarding the event or to make your presence felt through a donation if you are unable to attend please log onto http://www.cooperopen.com/ and feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone who may have interest.
Sincerely,
Jim Bagley, Jon Fox, Sean Gallivan & Clint Logan
