Picture #1 – Renting a 60’ articulating man lift for 4 hours …. $ 650.00Picture #2 & #3 – Roofer crazy enough to replace the cracked skylight 200’ above the lake …. $ 500.00
Picture #4 & #5 – View from the top of the house …. $1,000,000.00

Friday, October 21, 2005

Picture #5 – Bob Cleary showing up with the tools we need to finish the job after an emergency cell phone call placed from on top of the roof…… Priceless!!!

The moral of the story is as follows: Make sure you have all the tools and materials need when you are pulling the skylight off your house, the man lift is only rented for 4 hours, and rain is in the forecast.

Thinking how other's may have handled the Nomar Situation

O Cabrera would've saved three instead
of two and done it for less and been great in the
clubhouse afterward.

Ortiz would have waited until the last minute and
there were 5 more girls in the water and then saved
them all

ARod would've done an incredible job diving in,
getting the girls, pulling them almost all the way to
the shore... and then would've failed miserably at the
end. The cold water would've done a number on his
circulation/lips.

Renteria definitely would have saved them, because it
was a life or death situation. If he'd just gone in to
get some kid's frisbee or something mundane, he
probably would have jumped into the water and landed
on a Duckboat, sinking it and killing dozens.

Mueller's done this 10 times but you never heard a
peep about it.

Damon would have walked on the water until he got to
them, then thrown them halfway back to the dock.

Buck Showalter jumped in, grabbed the two girls, and
was about ten feet from shore when Steinbrenner jumped
into the water, pulled him away, and let Torre finish
the rescue.

If someone fell in the Harbor while Timlin was there,
he would save them. Anyone in the Harbor before he
arrived would drown.

Manny would wonder what all the fuss was about
followed by a double finger point salute to the girls.

Derek Lowe would have bought the girls drinks all
night and then fallen in with them.

Myers would need to team up with Bradford since only
one of the girls was left-handed.

Bronson would have saved the girls, then brought them
back to their dorm to party.

Abe Alvarez wouldn't have seen them.

If Bellhorn tried to dive in he would have missed the
Harbor.

Millar would have shown up, sat on a park bench,
talked to the cameras, came up with another slogan and
contributed absolutely nothing, all while saying he's
not the best athlete but brings other things to the
table besides being able to swim, and rescue people.

Grady would have left them out there too long.

O'S EYEING DUQUETTE

October 14, 2005 -- ST. LOUIS — Mets senior VP of baseball operations Jim Duquette interviewed yesterday in Baltimore for an upper management position with the Orioles and could be on his way to receiving an offer.
According to a baseball official, there appears to be a good chance that Duquette, who was the Met GM in 2004 before Omar Minaya's arrival, will be offered a position with Baltimore along the lines of a co-general manager.
Duquette's interview yesterday was with current GM Mike Flanagan (who used to be co-GM with Jim Beattie) and general legal counsel Russell Smouse, and the session lasted more than five hours. Duquette, who is also a candidate for the vacant Phillie GM job, is expected to hear back from Baltimore in the next week or so.

Doing the math on why the Yankees clinched

Doing the math on why the Yankees clinched

Why did the Yankees clinch the AL East today even though both New York and Boston can finish with the same record if the Red Sox win tomorrow? Here’s the explanation:

If Boston wins tomorrow (which would eliminate the Indians), the Sox will tie the Yankees with a 95-67 record. In that case, head-to-head records are used because the Yankees (East champion) and Red Sox (wild card team) would have already clinched playoff spots.

Why is the head-to-head record (the Yankees lead 10-8) used instead of a playoff game?

A one-game playoff game is only staged when there is a postseason berth at stake, not for postseason seeding purposes.

Got it?
