Martha's Vineyard Schedule Makers

Posted by Hello

I find this Amazing -
A couple from Martha's Vineyard was responsible for making the schedule for MLB the last 20 years?? These two were responsible for scheduling 2,430 games over 26 weeks for 30 teams. I on the other hand, find it difficult to arrange a fishing trip for 6 in July.

The Perfect Storm - Nor'Easter

Nor'Easter Posted by Hello
Similar to a hurricane a nor'easter is counter-clock wise turning cyclone (a storm system circulating around a center). Nor'easters are spawned by a very curvy Jet Stream that dips far south allowing cold arctic air to meet warm air. The warm air rises over the cold, creating instability up high and an area of low pressure below. Larger temperature differences create greater turbulence. Once the system is formed, the earths rotation causes the air to circle around the center (similar to when you drain the water out of your bath-tub). This creates the northeast wind, hence it's name nor'easter. They typically form near the Bahamas or north of Cuba, along the Appalachians or off Cape Hatteras. The Jet Stream plays a very important role also in the strengthening of the storm. As the incoming air rises around the center, the Jet Stream whisks it away further increasing the speed of the incoming air. The faster the air moves the faster the barometric pressure drops. Weather forecasters call a 24 millibar drop in 24 hours "The Bomb". Normal Jet Stream winter pattern is to follow the coast and consequently drags the storm northeast ward. Some time a High further north blocks its path and so it churns over the ocean for a long time sending beach-eating waves onshore. During the October to April nor'easter season February is the busiest month. Researchers say the biggest ones occur in October, January and March. What nor'easter don't achieve in wind-speed as compared with hurricanes, they achieve in duration (up to a week) and size (up to 1000 miles or more in diameter).

Check Posted by Hello

Renee called me a few months back to inform me that I had unclaimed property with the state of Massachusetts.?. She explained how to get in touch with the powers that be... And you guessed it! I was owed $295.93 from some stock I had purchased in 1999!?!?!?
leave it to Renee to not only find this out, but to stay on top of me until I received my check!

New Zealand Rack of Lamb

Posted by Hello

Driving down to the Cape I decided to stop at Whole Foods market and pick up something for dinner... The butcher talked me into a New Zealand rack of lamb. Mom and I decided it would go well with zitti smothered in a homemade scallop pasta sauce ... It did not disappoint. In fact, it was one of the better meals I have had in a long time.

Happy 10th!

Movie Reviews:

Crash Movie Review: Posted by Hello A Must See!!!

Crash: This movie will make you feel every emotion. It takes place in LA and shows how the lives of many people are all intertwined without even knowing it. The movie is brilliant and really hits on many levels. The racial tones are clearly expressed by the well assembled cast (except for Brendan Frazier who is overmatched as usual). This gets 8.5 out of 10 in my book! Go see it.

The Interpreter: I also watched The Interpreter… not much to say… Sean Penn, who I consider one of the 3 best actors, seemed to be sleeping during this performance. Nicole Kidman was decent… 3.5 out of 10 (wait till it comes out on TV)

Star Trek \Wars: Who cares??? Just go away already! I am so glad this is the last one...

Scott Rodin loved my can opener flip flops (that Clint & Patti gave me) he found something just as "practical"--- A wedding band can opener... He told Holly he wanted this for his anniversary present... (Holly wasn't amused)

Twilight Star

Posted by Hello

Go get him! It's a simple as this. Do what-ever it takes to get him back in a Sox uniform.
It all makes sense... Bring back the best pitcher who ever lived and go Back-to-Back. It would be great to see Roger in the twilight of his career.
Next season's line up-
CF- H.Ramirez-------- 1. C. Schilling
RF- T.Nixon----------- 2. R. Clemens
LF- M.Ramirez-------- 3. B.Arroyo
DH- D.Ortiz------------ 4. W. Miller
C - J.Veritek----------- 5. T. Wakefield
SS - E.Renteria
3rd- K.Youkilis
2nb- D.Pedroia
1B - Free Agent signing

By the way... Sox need to take 5 out of 6 from Seattle and Chokeland.

Shake Your Money Maker

Posted by Hello Black Crowes

Went to the Black Crows concert last night at the Orpheum
Ran into Rob Silverman, Chris Coghlin and Jimmy Coghlin (Who called me Cory… I fought off the urge to call him Eric). The show was great and the Crows were clicking on all cylinders. E.M. and I sat 7 rows off center stage (thanks to Chad for hooking me up with the tickets). Although I didn’t know most of the songs, I have a new found respect for the Crows. Chris Robinson is a great front man who keeps the crowd energized… At one point in the show I said to E.M. “he is a great lead singer” to which she responded “I wish Kate Hudson would walk on stage with their little baby”… Anyway… Seeing a show like that in such a small theater was amazing. I give the show 6.5 crows out of a possible 10.

F.Y.I- here is a cool site ( Instant Live Concerts ) they tape the shows and sell them 10 minutes after the show finishes.
Also, Bruce Springsteen is playing at the Orpheum on Friday May 20th. (Check out the ticket prices)

Sox Talk

Posted by Hello

Red Sox talk the last 2 days—
Tuesday May 10th
Down 2-1 in the 9th - Millar up with one on—

Me-“Oh great, just who you want up in this situation… I can’t stand this guy “
TJ-“I like him, he’s due”
(Count is 2-2)
Me – "Can’t wait to see what you say after this pitch"
(SWINGGGG and a DRIVVVVVE, DEEP TO LEFT, WAY BACK, GONE!!!)
Me – "I NEVER DOUBTED THAT GUY"!!!
TJ—“HAHAHA”
Me—“What do you think?? You get 2 maybe 3 wins like that a year”?
TJ—“I don’t know the Sox and the Yanks seem to get more then other teams”

Wednesday May 11th
(Via email exchange)
Sox just blow a 4 run lead in the 9th and are now trailing 5-4
1 on and Kevin Millar comes up to bat

TJ-“Think he can do it again”?
Me- “Do what again? Be a fat loud mouth from Texas?? Yes... Hit an HR, NO”
(Swing and a lazy fly ball to right, Burns makes the catch)
TJ-“Ok, then Veritek will”
(THERE’S A FLY BALL, HEADED TOWARDS PESKY’S POLL…..GONE!!! THE SOX DO IT AGAIN!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???)
TJ- “Yeah, 2 MAYBE 3 wins like that in a year… Try 2 in 2 days”

Spam Mail

Hi Case,
I don't know what to do! I get about 200 emails a day now, and they're all from slim shy girls who have set up web cams for my personal enjoyment. If only I'd get my penis enlarged and working properly, I could take advantage of these offers, but alas, I'm too caught up in all the mortgage deals and really great investment opportunities. I think it's interfering with my job, which is to surf the internet for hours on end without interruption. Can we do something about this?
