‘Sopranos’ big may be sleeping with fishes in Boston Harbor

Now, it’s all supposed to be hush-hush and kept inside the family, but we hear that Boston will play a pivotal role in the upcoming season of “The Sopranos.”

Our well-placed rats report that one of the show’s “big characters” is going to get whacked in Boston — known on the hit HBO mob drama as “Scranton with clams.” The hit goes down during “The Sopranos” sixth season, which debuts March 12

Oh, but wait. There’s more.

“Sopranos” creator David Chase’s writers, who like to go that extra mile to set a scene, wrote into the script that as the gun action goes down, a Boston Celtics broadcast is blaring in the car.

Team spokesgal Farra D’Orazio confirmed yesterday that someone from the show contacted NBA Entertainment for permission to use one of last year’s radio broadcasts by Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell.

“That’s standard operating procedure,” she told the Track. “But that’s all we know.”

However, someone did snitch that a member of the Green Team’s front office was sent a copy of the episode’s script. But all the characters’ names were blacked out. Dammit!

Guess Chase & Company is all too aware that omerta means nothing in Boston . . .
